A tight and economical swing helped Bob to perform consistently at the highest level for many years
Being the son of a coalminer Bob Goalby came from a poor background. To make a little extra money for the family he worked as a caddy at the local St Clair County club. At nights the young talent would climb the fence and practice his golf in quiet areas.
Goalby turned professional in 1952 and won his first Tour event in 1958, after that he continued to compete at the top level until 1971.
